Managing stock in dry times workshop

Events

TFS are running an on-farm workshop to help producers prepare for a tough winter. The workshop will be held at ‘Merrill’ in Gunning on the 30th May at 9.30am.

Topics to be discussed:
– Stock confinement feeding options and decisions. This will include a walk around the farm’s confinement lots.
– Alternative feed options, including broadcasting corn to lambing ewes (more information below)

Guest speakers:
– Matthew Lieschke (South East Local Land Services). Matt will introduce the concept of broadcasting corn and the feeding rates. He’ll also answer any questions producers have on supplementary feeding.
– Charlie Bell (farmer). Charlie will take producers through his current set up for dry times and his experience with confinement feeding and broadcasting corn so far.

For more information on broadcasting corn, read this article.

Lunch will be provided after the workshop, please register for catering purposes.

This project is supported by Southern NSW Innovation Hub, through funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.
